    Brake light switch hangup

Several times we've noticed that the '07 Azera's brake lights did not shut off when the pedal was released. Usually a quick 'bump' on - off the pedal took care of that, but now it seems that there must be a hangup with the wiring harness that leads to the brake light switch, because jiggling that a bit shuts off the brake light... way beyond the 'minor annoyance' stage of malfunctions. (Of course, when the brake light switch is activated the cruise control also remains non-functional.)

Haven't really dug into it yet, but probably will this weekend (along with replacing the leaky valve cover gasket(s) and re-sealing a fog light lens/replacing bulb).

Any similar brake light switch problems? Reports on the specific part that failed... and the fix?

    TIA

    RE: Brake light switch hangup

First I've seen that mentioned anywhere. Either the brake pedal itself is sometimes not quite coming back to the "full upright position" or the light-switch actuator is getting flakey. There may be a mechanical adjustment for the switch...

    RE: Brake light switch hangup

Well, fixed it. Tried adjustments with no success; switch itself was intermittent in the 'open circuit' position. Replacement was $19.99 @ AutoZoo. Surprise... it's the same part as oem, same mfr. & part number! Hope this one lasts longer; it's a turkey to re-install if you're any larger than a small monkey.
