Manufacturer of OEM Azera spark plugs' ?.

Gonna want to replace the spark plugs on '07 Azera 3.8L soon. Anyone know which company made the OEM plugs? Anyone pulled theirs yet? TIA

No guarantee, but I've read elsewhere that the OEM plugs are NGK Iridium IFR5G-11 plugs, good for over 100,000 miles. I'm a little over half-way there in 5.3 years...

Yep, finally found that # in my official Hyundai Azera shop manual... IFR5G11, a.k.a. NGK Part # 7854. Just called a FLAPS, who said they are 'special order' and are priced @ $14.75 each!!! Even Rock Auto's price is $9.84 each!

At those prices, I just may use another type when replacing(?). I've had quite a few different plugs last to 100K miles with modern ignition systems, or even old-style breaker points(!) systems with a capacitive discharge unit added on.

    More research needed.

I've yet to read where anyone has had a problem with their OEM plugs, BUT I've also read that if you leave them in too long (and how long IS too long?) you may have an awful time breaking them loose to take out. Back in the day, that was enough of a problem that they made (still make) "HeliCoils" to replace/repair the graunched-up head threads...

They are the Iridiums. They last for a very long time but I find that replacing them earlier will help with gas mileage. The tips of the Iridium plugs last for a long time but after 30K miles I find that they start to loose their efficiency.

To be honest i would stick with NGK spark plugs they are known to last very very long but, just keep, it would just effect fuel efficenty, but they will never miss fire or knock, they will always fire, just make sure to always gap them properly and replace them if you find your fuel millage sucks..
