    alligement (Front) 2007 azera

We've only had the car 18 months. We've loved the car, until we feel we have a problem with the aligement. This makes the tires cup, and thats trouble. Anyone had this problem?

    RE: alligement (Front) 2007 azera

    Welcome to the forum!

According to what I've read, cupping is most likely due to underinflation (I go no lower than 32 psi on my 2006 Azera, usually hold 34 psi) or worn shocks or struts which allow the tire(s) to bounce as you drive, causing the uneven wear pattern known as cupping...

Our car has only 33000 miles on it. Do you think they could be bad??

Some people have had problems with the shocks, reporting a hollow noise over bumps, described as sounding like a "tennis ball inside a plastic bottle," and some don't think the suspension damps body movement sufficiently (one saying it was like a monkey riding a football!), but I've neither experienced the noise nor been disappointed with the ride. I'd see what the dealer has to say, as you're still under warranty...

In my experience "cupping" which is the wearing faster of the center portion of the thread than the outer edges, is caused by over inflation. I have a '06 Limited, Sage Green with 27,000 miles. Probably have another 5000 left on the tires.

That would be "center tread wear."

"Center tread wear, which usually indicates over-inflation. Over inflation results when
a vehicle owner tries to compensate for a slow leak by over inflating the tire to make it
    stay up longer."

"Cupping [scallop wear] can be caused by an unbalanced tire condition, faulty wheel bearings, loose parts, fatigued springs or weak shock absorbers. Check the condition of the shock by
forcefully bouncing the front end of the car several times and releasing it on the down
stroke. Failure of the vehicle to settle after two strokes suggests worn shocks or struts."
