Follow up on claying your car.**Claying your car will Not hurt the paint.**Just the opposite.**I will clean the surface**of any dirt imbedded in the paint and get it ready for a good polish. glaze and wax.**I did my car as soon as I got it home from the dealers and follow up about every 4 or 5 months depending on how dirty the car has gotten over the months.**An easy trick to see how clean the surface of the paint is, just get a plastic baggy and put your hand in it and lightly run it over the surface of your car.**You will feel how smooth the surface is.**If you feel some small bumps or roughness then you know that it needs to be clayed.**Claying your car is one of the best kept secrets of getting a truly clean and smooth surface.**JoeD

I would not use a chamois because they can hold dirt particles and when they get dried out they can become brittle and scratch the finish.**There a several types of MF Towels.**Get the Guzzler MF for drying your car.**As for waxes, check out the other waxes available on Autogeek.net and check out the forum.**There are plenty of very reasonable priced waxes that do a great job.**Clearkote, Poorboy's and XMT products just to name a few all work great.*Check out this before and after job just to give you an idea of a Good Detail:

Thanks JoeD for the informative reply. Is it bad to use a chamois to dry your car? I have never used micro fiber cloths to dry my car but will start doing now. My car has only about 2500 miles on it. Will claying the car this soon damage the paint? Also, have you ever used P21S wax? Any comments? Your wax suggestion is a bit out of my budget. Again, thanks for the tips.

Hi edaixp, that is a hard question to answer. In detailing there are several ways to finish a car. Here is a quick list:

Wash (car soap) using Micro Fiber Cloths or Sheep Skin MIT.
    Dry: Always using MF Towels
Clay Car: You will be surprised at the contaminants that are on the paint just from delivery, such as Rail Road Dust.
Polish with a Good Glaze, such as ClearKote Vanilla Moose for light colored cars or ClearKote Red Moose Glaze for Dark Paint, Black, Red.
Finishing: You can use a Sealant or a Carnauba Wax. I use Carnauba Wax on my car. It gives the car a Great Wet Shine but does not last as long as a Sealant. The wax that I use is Pinnacle Soveran Paste Wax (very expensive, but worth every dime). ClearKote Carnauba Moose Wax is a Good Wax for easy on easy off.

There are many Great Car Cleaning Products on the market. I would stay away from the over the counter Brands and purchase from a Good Detailing Site such as: http://www.autogeek.net/

I am not trying to solicit any business for this company. It is only one of many out there, but for me it is the best. They have a How To learning center and you can read the many how too's. Their detailing forum is also great.

Sorry for the long reply but this is just a small fraction of what is available for detailing cars. Read the How Too's on the autogeek site and you will learn a great deal.
    Good Luck, JoeD

    Hey JoeD,

I noticed you mentioned you do car detailing. What would be your best brand and type of car wax? Also, how often should I wax my Azzy?

    Thanks

    JoeD,
You are absolutely right about the DP stuff. I received it and the micro cloth yesterday. Cleaned both front and rear glass inside and out and they sparkle. I don't understand why I am the only owner who had the cleaning problem. Must have happened in-transit.
