I just bought a 2008 Azera with 8000 miles on it and was given three remotes for the car. None of them worked and the seller said that Hyundai will reprogram them for a fee. I brought it to Hyundai and they told me that everyone in the service center was stumped. They were receiving a signal from the ECM but were unable to program the remote. They had to call Hyundai Technical service to find out what the problem was and I'm still waiting for an answer. Anyone got any ideas?
At least one of those remotes did not come with the car. The processor has memory for a maximum of 5 devices. For example, the ones that came with the car were 2 master keys, 2 remotes and 1 sub (valet) key. These "smart" devices each have their own electronic signature and if you wanted to get a new key or remote, I believe the techs would have to "lose" an older one from the processor to free-up the memory.
They should know how to do whatever has to be done, but sometimes "should" and "do" have a bit of a gap. I bought a pack of two remotes on eBay a year back, didn't need them then, haven't needed them yet, just bought them in case and the price was right, but I haven't had the need to go through the replacement procedure. Come to think of it, I don't know that I've read of anyone who had to, but a couple of years back I read a discussion about what would need to be done, appended above...
Hello brf8844,
Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the button. This should over ride the system, and only the keyless entry part,if installed, would still be operating.
The LED light in the dash should also go on solid.
You don't need to go towards Hyundai, but get your things checked to any repairing shop of that.
So may your expanse could save and you feel enjoy one.
Think batter and whats your heart say do that if you feel its right.
If it is not working it might be the problem of the internal wiring or the main power supply. It happens due to moisture in the socket of the remote panel just call the good electrical or car wireman for the assistance.
