    Speakers OUT of Phase

    Hi Folks

I have a Base model i.e. GLS pearl white Azera (couldn't afford the nicer and more expensive ones

Had been meaning to upgrade the speakers for a while, as i noted from the Hyundai's spec sheets (dealer got me a copy) that with or without infinity systems , both have the same rated output (40 W Max) for door speakers. The main difference is in the total number of speakers 10 versus 6. So i figured that if i could at least replace the factory 25 Cents speakers with something more like what the infinity system speakers in Limited and SE models come equipped with, it ought to sound somewhat better .

Went ahead and had Polk Db speakers put in at Circuit City. I noticed some improvement but not what i expected. Also noticed that the rear door speakers sounded weaker with little bass compared to front. This was something similar to before the upgrade, just a few degrees better. Went back to Circuit City and told them about my woes. The install guy took special interest and spent close to 1/2 a day fixing it. now the whole lot including the rear speakers sound great too.

Bottom line, the tech sheets had it wrong. i.e. the wiring puts the speakers out of phase thus canceling the sound waves. The install guy ended up tracing each wire with multi-meter from stereo to the speakers to get the polarity correct instead of relying on the incorrect tech sheets. He told me he would be getting back to the folks who provide them with the tech sheets to rectify the sheets.

I am wondering about 2 things here... has any one else come across something similar? secondly, if the rear speakers sounded weak from the beginning, has Hyundai korea got it wrong too?

    Cheers

    RE: Speakers OUT of Phase

    Welcome to the forum!

Haven't heard anything about this on this or on other sites, but as those who have previously posted about upgrading their sound systems have started with the system in an Azera Limited, it could be that the GLS has/had a problem that wasn't duplicated in the system in the Limited model...
