    Lightbulb Trip Odometer reset itself?

Ok, I have an interesting problem. The first time this happened, i thought I was crazy, but now it has happened more than once.

I always reset my trip odometer when I fill up with gas. I had about half tank left, about 200 miles on the trip odometer. I got to work, shut the Azera off, and it sat for the 8 or so hours I was at work.Â*Â*After work, I got in the Azera, started it, and noticed that the trip odometer was reset back to 0.0.Â*Â*Ok, weird. Maybe I hit reset? Nope.Â*Â*

I cycled through all of the other functions, and they were not reset.

So, I thought this was a fluke, but then it happend again about 3 days later. I had about 50 miles on the trip odometer, shut the Azera off to run into the grocery store, came back, started it, and the trip odometer was back to 0.0 again.

This has happened a few times now. There is no pattern that I can notice yet. Any ideas or suggestions? Has anyone had this happen? The Azera has less than 6,000 miles on the it, and it is the Limited with the Ultimate package.

I know that there is a battery in the dash cluster itself, to provide backup power to the odometer if the main battery goes dead. I have not had any battery issues that I am aware of. And if it was the main battery, wouldn't the average miles per gallon and average speed also have been reset?

Help!!!!!! This is driving me crazy!!

I recall reading elsewhere about this from one or two people a few months back, but there was never a resolution stated...

I have a 07 Azera Limited and it does the same thing. It is very infrequent. Dealer looks at me like they do not believe me.

My 2007 Azera Limited occasionally resets the odometer also...about once every three months or so.

    RE: Trip Odometer reset itself?

Have you noticed any instances of "headlight dimming" when the brakes are applied? It's possible that there is a poor ground that causes a voltage drop as the chassis flexes forward, which would reduce power to the lights and may also reduce power to the processor enough to reset the ODO...

Yes, it reads like 100 miles. It just reset itself to zero and started counting from there again. Well at least I know there is nothing wrong with it and that is SOP. Too bad the owners manual is so poor as not mention things like this. I get more information from this forum than I do my dealer or VW publications. Thanks for everyone's input.
