    tire noise

I am having a great deal of tire noise...I have a 2007 Azera with 25,ooo miles, with the factory Miichelin XSE tires. I rotate these tires myself on a regular basis. The noise is incredibly loud on most roads.. anyone else having this problem?

    thanks

    Jim

    RE: tire noise

A number of people have expressed dissatisfaction with the Michelins for that reason, stating that on the smoothest roads, the tires are quiet, but on roads that have a rougher texture, the tires are noisy. I've noticed that too with my 2006 OEM Michelins (now with 37,000 miles on them) but most of the roads I drive are pretty smooth so I don't experience the problem all that much...

    RE: tire noise

I have a 2007 Azera Limited with Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. I hate these things. They sound like snow tires on most pavements in Michigan. Had the same tires on my Honda Accord and they did the same thing. They have 32000 miles on them and I am trying to find a tire that I can replace them with. I want quiet and decent traction in summer and winter driving. Anybody know of a good replacement that would compliment the Azera's quietness?

    RE: tire noise

We have Pirelli PZeros on our Azera. They gave us a brand new set because when we bought the car one tire was bad and instead of replacing the one with a different tire they installed a new set. Even with the Pirelli tires we still get more noise than I would like. I can tell its from the front tires. The balancing and alignment should be good, no pulling and no wobble in the steering, etc. but I'm wondering if the camber or toe in might be off or something could cause this.

Yea, I think it's my front tires also...My car is in proper alingment, and there's lots of good tread left, so I am hesitating to replace them now, but on all but a couple types of road surfaces, it's really loud.

    RE: tire noise

Ditto on the Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. Seems like we had those on our Mercury Gran Marquis, with the same results also. When these factory tires are about finished, I'll see what The Tire Rack has, & what their user surveys say is better in that category. So far I've been satisfied with their help and my purchases from them.

40 years ago, I bought my first set of Michelin X tires, on a 'factory take-off' upgrade deal, in exchange for the miserable "8-ply-rated 4-ply" skinny, hard, tractionless BF Goodrich tires that came on my heavily-optioned new '69 Fairlane (still own the car!). Those Michelins were great, for that time, and I've purchased many more sets of Michelins for various cars & trucks I've owned since then. But, although I've run Michelin Energy MXV4 tires successfully on several VW compacts I've owned, as fitted to the Azera, they just don't do it for me. (Actually I've found tires I like a lot better for the VWs, too.)

Hopefully, by tire replacement time (probably another 25K miles), there also will be some decent aftermarket shocks/struts available for the Azera, and with those and new 'shoes', it will be an even more enjoyable vehicle.

    RE: tire noise

An update from earlier post about my noisy stock Michelin tires. I finally had it with those tires and replaced them with Bridgestone Tuanza Serenity from Tire Rack.

All I can say is, believable difference. No noise, handling is good, and a real added benefit is a greatly improved ride. These tires are set at 40 Psi and my Michelin's were set to 32. One would think that with the higher pressure the ride would be much harsher. Exactly the opposite. These Bridgestones are phenomenal.

    RE: tire noise

ok< my tire guy informed that my Azera is out of alignment, which is causing the tire "cupping" he also said the rears had been under-inflated..I keep a close eye on tire pressure, and the Azera has no "pull" right or left, nor is there any steering wheel shimmy, but I will get the car aligned... too late for these tires I guess.

    Lightbulb RE: tire noise

My 2007 Azera has the Michelins and the road noise. Same complaint as everyone else. We have 24,000 on them and they won't last too much further. Maybe 26,000 tops. I don't know what I will get to replace them. I toyed with idea of more Michelins but I don't want road noise.
