    Tow with your Azera...

I note that U-Haul now has a Class-1 (2000-lb towing capacity) permanent hitch system for the Azera, includes tapping into the tail-light wiring (so you can have trailer lights) that runs $199, and installation and tax would bring it up to maybe $280.

When I moved from Texas to Florida back in 1998-1999, I had U-haul put a permanent hitch on my 1990 Honda Accord and, over time, I hauled eight U-Haul two-wheel-trailers full of stuff the 1260 mile distance. Since then, with the Honda I've towed a small boat down to Florida from new Jersey and have launched and recovered said small boat from the intracoastal waterway a number of times...

Reese, U-Haul and a couple other hitch manufacturers list a type 1 receiver hitch as you mention. We are also considering installing a similar hitch. The caveat, looking at some of the websites and their installation procedures, has me on the fence. All say that no drilling is required - great. 20-30 minute installation - also great. Exhaust system must be temporarily lowered to permit installation - NOT so great. What worries me is that after lowering both sides of the exhaust to hook up the tow bar is that the exhaust tips will no longer be raised back to their original height and look especially sh1tty.

If anyone has done a similar installation, please chime in.

    Thanks.

    Soooooo, who's gonna go first?...

I've still got my "towing Honda" so I'm in no particular hurry...

So I visited my hitch guy today regarding my concerns. He assures me (!!) that the exhaust , after being lowered to get access to mount the hitch, will return to its original position. Brings to mind all those truisms: the bus is on its way, your check is in the mail, ad inifinitum.

Probably will do the deed next week.

I'm dying to know. Did you get the hitch? How does it look? Can you post a few pics? When I bought my Azera it was to replace a 1986 Chrysler Fifth Avenue I inherited from my grandfather along with his bass boat. No Fifth Avenue, no way to tow the boat. I'm hoping you got the hitch and that it works and looks great!

    Welcome to the forum!

... and I'm wondering too, how the hitch operation comes out. Still have my '90 Accord with its U-Haul towing parked out back, just in case...

Remiss with the reply - opted NOT to hang a tow bar on the Azera. Looking at the business end of a Class 1 receiver against a Class 3 left no doubt in my mind that I'd want the strength and capacity of the Class 3. Using my pickup, equipped with the Class 3 receiver, instead.
