Headlights on My New Azera

Got my 2007 Azera Lmt w/ Ultimate Pkg.
Everything's so good so far! =)

Have a question for you guys!

I drove Acura TL before I bought this babe, so I am more used to HID lighting. Reading other threads, I found some say I just need to swap the bulbs and some say I need to purchase the HID kit or something. I have NO idea what they are talking about, but I know I want brighter and whiter headlights.

Can somebody PLEASE explain in details how I can get a better sight at night?

What are those Xenon bulbs on eBay under $20?
Can I just put them on my Azera?

I'm not really willing to spend hundreds of $ for the HID kit people talking about.
What's an economic way of getting brighter headlights?

Thanks alot!!!

RE: Headlights on My New Azera

If you put those cheap bulbs from ebay on your Azera, your headlights will shine white yes, but it won't be nearly as good as actual HID headlights because the housing isn't the same. Plus HID conversion kits usually are like projectors, so it will really shine longer.

So if you want to have headlights like Acuras, Lexus', BMWs, etc... then you have to get a HID conversion kit. If you just want bulbs to be like normal azera, just white, then you can replace bulbs. But replacing only the bulbs won't make a huge difference I've tried it.

Check out "danielsternlighting" on the web. They recommended Narva bulbs last year.I've been very happy with these. They are very helpful and could recommend another brand now. They were about 30 bucks and easy to install.

All I did was raise the eyelids on my Azera and I have plenty of light at night. It is not for show, as long as I am comfortable with what I can see, I'm happy.

Just a warning for '08 model Azera owners: the headlights are NOT both H7 bulbs any more. Per Daniel Stern, you really have to pop them out and look to be certain because there are three different possible configurations.

Mine (build date is July '07) has H11b (OSRAM-only!) low beams and H7 OSRAM high beams, which I replaced with H9's. The H11b "quick connect" bulb has NO aftermarket replacements that I have found even overseas. In contrast to people complaining about the H7 low beams in the '06 & '07 models, mine are - if anything - a bit too bright! I've been 'flashed' a couple of times when I have only low beams on, but toggling those H9 high beams (2100 lumens as opposed to the 1400 in the OEM H7's) always calms 'em down big-time.

I replaced the OEM bulbs in my 2007 Azera Limited with Sylvania Silverstar Halogens. I used these bulbs in other cars, and in my wife's 2006 Tucson. They make a big difference because they are clear, white light. They are not too expensive either.

Hi everyone,

I just purchased the SilverStar Ultras. For the life of me, I can't get the headlight assembly out. Removed the 2 bolts and 1 nut as identified in the manual. It's so tight I could only pull it out about 3/4 inch until it got stuck. Then had a hard time putting it back in place. Are there any tricks to this procedure? Thanks.

Steve

Welcome to the forum to two new members!

Here's a means to raise the "black bar" which cuts off the Azera low beams wayyy too low:

A do-it-at-home primer (at least for the 2006 North-American version)
----------

The headlight adjustment can easily be done at home, with just a Phillips. A flashlight may be useful.

Open hood... hear the satisfying "whooooosh" as the hood lifter takes over and opens it the rest of the way for you!

On the driver's side, note the "Warning Attention Achtung" label. One step down from it, note a smaller bar-coded white label.

The opening and the "funnel" through which you insert your Phillips screwdriver is just to the left of that white label. Look below the funnel and you'll see a gear-looking knurled nut, edge-on, which is the adjuster.

The Phillips, inserted throught the two plastic openings (which are there to line-up the Phillips) will engage the knurled nut, and turning one way will raise the black bar, turning the other way will lower it. I don't recall which way is which, but if you have your lights on and shine them against a wall or garage door, you'll quickly know!

Now that you're an expert, find the similar setup on the passenger side and do th' do there, as well. Close the hood and that's that.

I raised the black bar on the driver's side just enough so I don't get people flashing their high beams at me, the passenger side I allowed a little higher...
----------

If you do a forum search for "black bar" you'll find other possibly useful info...

Yeah! Xenon bulbs are also good but don't buy it from ebay. You can buy it from any online dealer.

Replacing light bulbs Sylvania Silver Star Hyundai first thing that worked was in June, better visibility, helped a little, but is less shade flaps inside the bulb when I met with Hyundai DPSM is scheduled for next week, finally.
