    87 Octane?

Does the Azera take Regular Unleaded? Most of the other "comparable" cars, it seems, require 93 Octane, and given today's gasoline prices, I'd rather not have to pay the extra cash for high end gas.

    Thanks.

Yes - 87 octane. That was a consideration when we started looking at the Azera.

    BMW 3-series, Mercedes C-Class, and Audi A4.

Comparable in that those were the cars I was originally looking at until I figured I could save $10k and get a car slightly less sporty but otherwise roomier and just as nicely appointed.

by comparable cars I thought you meant Ford 500, Toyota Avalon, Nissan Maxima

Yea I wouldn't say BMW, Mercedes, and Audi are really that close of competition to Azera. Those cars are very small compared to Azera, Avalon, Maxima, etc...

Agreed. Originally, when I was looking at possibilities for my "next car", however, those were the cars I was looking at. Only the Azera seemed to have styling I liked with speced performance I thought was reasonable at a price that seemed decent.

I'd never buy a Ford, and the Toyotas are so bland that they don't attract me at all.

With gas prices where they are( especially at the beginning of summer), pumping regular gas puts a big smile on my face. You should see me when I pump premium into my wife's X5's EMPTY tank. Ugh.

    RE: 87 Octane?

Generally using a higher octane 87 than is required by your vehicle will not produce more power. Many people think they will, but it will not. Octane 87 is only there to reduce engine knock, do not create energy. It will help to empty your wallet faster than a little. The engine design dictates what octane 87 is required. Higher compression engines need higher octane. lower compression engines can use the lowest octane rated fuel.
