Thread: Hesitating Engine

Whenever I stomp on the accelerator for instant zoom to get out of the way of something, I'm rewarded with at least a one second hesitation before anything happens. I don't do this very often, so it's not something that's foremost in my mind, but whenever I need the instant acceleration, I'm lucky I don't get run over.

I know this was a problem for some of the earlier fuel injected production cars back in the early to middle 1980's, but it was solved rather quickly well before the end of that decade. Is anyone aware of a means whereby the transmission and air/fuel supply controller(s) can be reprogrammed to provide what's being asked for.

The above referenced the 2006 Azera (and a few other models, as well) but it may have been updated for a later year, if you have a later year vehicle...

Just got back from vacation. Thanks for the info. Will take this to the dealer's service shop with me when I take the car in to have the dashboard replaced.

Ours does this too. I figured it just a symptom of typical OEM trans. programming. GM and other vehicles have this issue too. Fixed mine on my new G8 with a Superchips Cortex, man it really wakes the car up. Wish there was something like that available for these 3.8's that we have in the Azera...

Its nice to hear about the fuel injection in mid 80's car. Car's of those period were so muscular, my
favourite one was ford Mushtang. I love this car because it has got nice sporty looks good macho
engine with great torque too. I do has suffer from this problem and found my fuel injector problematic, so please change your fuel injector.

Well, I like it. It was a cracked gasket and it needed spark plugs. I was on my way home and the car starting hesitating again, when I pulled in my driveway. It kept getting worse and about a month and 1 or 2 ago I was at a stop light, on a hot day with my AC on and when i hit the gas to take off the car stalled.

I apologized for the misunderstanding. My GDI engine started to contract. I changed the spark plugs, oxygen sensor and maintenance of intravenous and still no result. I want to change the idle speed control located on the accelerator and the coach was normal. I still have a minimum of maximum seems to diagnosis.

My apologies for not revisiting this thread a year ago. When I had my dash cover replaced, I asked about the hesitation and mentioned the TSB. I still just ended up with shrugged shoulders. Even as I type these words I'm coming to the realization that I'm not getting this hesitation as much anymore. Mainly I don't call on it all that frequently, but when I do these days, the hesitation is much less than it was before. Go Figger.

Aside to brevedecane: I wasn't able to comprehend what you are talking about. What are you apologizing for? What's a GDI engine? How do engines contract? What result were you seeking? Idle speed is controlled by a computer, not by anything on the accelerator, what did you really mean? What's a coach? What does your last sentence mean?

This engine sounds like timing ad issue could be crab related with power valve but I would try alighter spring and weight first. But I hope this helps people track down their stumble. For me, the power valve was the big key to fixing the stumble.
