Thread: Starting Problem

Well, my new Azera with 100 km on it is in the garage. I've had two incidences where the car would not start....engine cranks over but no go. Dealer has been unable to recreate the problem, but there are two codes stored in the onboard processor which indicate immobilizer and key area.

They want to replace the "key antenna", which detects the key coding, but there is no part in Toronto, and it will take 2-3 weeks to order one in. Meanwhile, they are trying to determine if they can pull one from another car on the lot.

I have a paid for Impala rental, and am waiting to see what develops.....not a happy camper at this time.....seems that the service people are not sure what to do.....this is something new to them.

Will report on any progress.

Yes, the car was repaired at the dealership, and I just brought it home. They called in a Master Locksmith who also deals with the same immobilizer technology in Lexus vehicles. The culprit was an ignition coil antenna which interfaces with the transponder circuit in the ignition key. Also, one key was not responding, so all three keys were reprogrammed.

At the same time, I had the limp home password enabled in the PCM. Now if the immobilizer system is activated, I'll be able to start the vehicle.

This was new territory for the service department, so hopefully no one else will have to endure the learning curve.

Two things in my experience.

If rapid clicks, starter gear probably not fully engaging with flywheel due to insufficient current.

Low battery (may be charging issue if battery is good, Any independent shop will check battery/charging) OR the solenoid is shot (copper connection pads get worn out).

If it is intermittent solenoid, single click but no turn over then try again and works, solenoid is bad as above. Usually this deteriorates over time especially in cold climates like New England.

If you believe solenoid, pull starter out and take to auto electrical shop for a rebuild. If cold climate, the starters take a beating and they will rebuild starter & solenoid.

Folowing not likely but...late models use a relay. The ignition switch controls the relay, the relay feeds the solenoid, solenoid feeds starter. I did have a 1997 Tahoe that was intermittent (turn key twice it starts). I did not believe solenoid was bad since I'm warm climate. This can be (carefully, know what your doing & verify relay part numbers) checked by substituting a relay from another "non-vital" circuit (say air conditioning). The relays MUST be the same so verify part number.

Had a new '65 karman-Ghia convertable which, after 70k miles or so began to not want to crank properly. Found I could turn off the ignition, put car in gear, get out and push an inch or two and then it would start...

I currently own a F250 Diesel returns, but will not start. Now a damp cloth with a little gas and put it in the entrance of the filter housing on the motor started running again and ran, but he died very quickly. Is this a fuel pump or problem with the fuel pump? or it could be another problem?

As per My View I think Yo have a Problem in Battery or My be In the Filter.If You Battery Goes down at that time This kind of Starting Problem occur or may be it's due to Loss Connection of Battery.Yo have to Check out Your Battery it Give the Sufficient Voltage or Not.
