Dodge has decided to replace its small car, the Neon, with a five door tall-roof wagon that will go on sale this spring. Starting at about $14,000 for the most basic version, the Caliber promises to inject some almost Scion-like style into the small car segment. Dodge will be offering three different four-cylinder engines in the Caliber, a 1.8-, 2.0-, and a 2.4-liter. Horsepower will come in at 138 horsepower for the base 1.8-liter, 158 ponies for the mid-level 2.0-liter and 172 horses for the 2.4-liter. All-wheel drive will be optional, front-wheel drive is standard as will be a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that Chrysler claims will offer better driving feel than the CVTs currently on the market.

What do you guys think of this car? Looks weird, funny, and ugly from some angles, but looks ok from the others. It's going to replace the neon.

This vehicle doesnt appeal to me either...

i only semi-like the looks of the caliber r/t mostly because of all of the chrome, but as we all know, most people driving this car in a few years will be tuner teens or past pt loser owners.

Azera much better. This Dodge has no power. My buddy has one. Looks good but not much else.

Caliber is a car where I both do and don't understand its appeal. On the one hand, it's sharp looking with good cargo room and reasonable pricing (provided you keep a lid on the options). On the other hand, it's slow, has poor visibility, and merely mediocre fuel economy. Overall, this is a vehicle that's only slightly better than the sum of its parts. Dodge is selling every one they can build, which is good news for them and the State of Illinois as it keeps the Belvidere assembly plant humming.
