Azera and headlights view on low beam

I'm about two weeks away from buying the 2006/7 Azera and now I'm concerned about the headlight issue. In a forum I read yesteday there are some complaints from consumers about how far one can see down the road with the low beams on. One person said only 30 feet another stated he only saw 20 feet down the road. None of these sound very right to me, but it is a concern. What happens when there is wet payment or snow how far can one see in front of them is the question.

The question for everyone who has a new Azera is how far can you see and is there a problem. I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this issue in this forum or on a few other Azera forums. Yet I did run into one yesteday and this was addressed. One of our posters said that Edmends has posts regarding the headlight problems from owners of Azera's, however from the ones that I read I didn't see it yet. I will continue to look.

Lets hear some impute from Azera owners. Do you feel you can see well with the low beams on at night.

    Thanks

Go look at other cars that have halogen low beam projectors, they look the same. You are just having to get used to not lighting up the whole block.

Well if you weren't able to see enough, then the car wouldn't be allowed to be put into car market. It's standard halogen lights, they're not bright white/blue color usually, which is what is becoming standard for today's cars.

If you're really concerned about this, just go to Hyundai dealership at night, and test drive it. The safest thing to do would be just buy HIDs and put them in. That'll help whether Azera's halogens are good enough or not.

You guys are right. I'm not going to worry about headlights. There is a standard in the auto industry on the direction and distance view of headlights on high and low beam. I read it today. If a manfufacture does not meet the stadard then the car cannot be sold.

I finding that some of these reports are from disgruntled consumers or maybe even Honda and Toyota reps that want to throw a curve ball move potential buyers away from Azera's. Not me I'm sticking with the car I want to buy and that would be a Sage Green Premium Package Limited Azera.

65 watt bulbs are standard (and 55w is common) but that is as high as you can go and still use USDOT approved bulbs. I've seen PIAA (and other) bulbs rated 80 and 100 watts, but they are marked "JDM", which is "Japanese Domestic Market", so they clearly are illegal in the states...

The Azera lenses are made for HID lamps, but have halogen bulbs here in the US. You can easily swap the bulbs out yourself - just go to Wal-Mart and pick up a pair of H7 GE NightHawks - you won't be sorry!

Does anyone know how the factory headlight can be adjusted to point up and right a little? I asked the dealer to perform this, but I think they either did nothing or simply adjusted to exactly factory specs.. I want to fiddle with the drivers side where it points too low...

    Re post 7:
The dealer would really be asking for trouble if they "fiddled" with the factory specs. This ain't gonna happen. I think a lot of new owners aren't used to the abrupt cut off of the low beams. This takes some getting used to. If illumination is not sufficient, I suggest trying 65 watt Ostrem hyper bulbs.I am using these and they really make a difference. Try online at" daniel stern lighting". I could be misspelling that. check out Google.

Picked up my '06 this weekend from Great Lakes Hyundai in Streesboro, OH (Cleveland area) & drove it back to NY. The headlights did take a little getting used to. The fog lights tended add a feeling of a broader pattern than just the projector headlights alone. My trip back was 500 miles, half of which was in the dark. After a couple of hours , I was comfortable with the projector headlights with or without the fog lamps on. personally, I do not have a need to change the bulbs for more intense ones.
As far as the Hi-Beams go.... Wow! You can light up the next county with 'em.

Generally speaking on the highway the lights are just fine, but when you are on a bumpy, hilly , or windy road, the constant "blackouts" on the left every time the car dip on a bump, is really unacceptable. I really dont see how a brighter bulb is going to overcome the physical geometry of the headlight assembly where it cuts the top half of the beam out... IMO
