    Air Bag Display Light

Just noticed my "Air Bag" light staying on while I'm driving. I turn the key on, and the Air Bag light lights up for about 6 seconds, goes out for one second, then comes back on and stays on, even with the engine running and the car being driven. I looked in the manual, and all it sez is to have the safety system checked by the dealer.

I did replace the battery in the car about a week ago, but didn't notice that light remaining on until this evening.

Anyone know if this is anything that can be re-set by the owner?

    RE: Air Bag Display Light

Reset by owner... probably not, but a defective sensor can turn the light on.

    Please note:

Make: HYUNDAI Model: AZERA Model Year: 2007
Manufacturer: HYUNDAI-KIA AMERICA TECHNICAL CENTER INC Mfr's Report Date: DEC 16, 2009
    NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V497000

    NHTSA Action Number: N/A
    Component: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

    Item Affected: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
    Date Announced: 12/30/2009

    Description of Recall:
HYUNDAI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2009 AZERA VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 27, 2005, THROUGH OCTOBER 1, 2008. THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR MAY SUSTAIN DAMAGE AFTER REPEATED USE OF THE SEAT BELT. IF THE SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR WIRING BECOMES DAMAGED THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING FRONT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT.

    Action Needed To Fix It:
HYUNDAI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-633-5151.

Oddly enough we'd just had the light intermittently activating about a week before we got the recall notice from Hyundai. An hour at the dealer solved the problem, and there has been no recurrence.

Thank you for this. It'll make "threading" the dealer just a little bit easier.
