Thread: Azera Tuning Bible

I have one of the more modified azera's that I know of, with quite a bit of custom parts that have been fabricated for this car. I want to pass my know how and findings in my modification process along to you guys in hopes I can make modifying your cars much easier. For this reason, as I type this, I am working on the Azera tuning bible that I hope all of you can benefit from. Hopefully it will be done by the middle of next month. Stay tuned.

Sorry I have been putting this off, school is taking up tons of time so I am going to leave a short list of engine upgrades you guys can do

1.Pulley kit- what it does-less pulley weight means less force the engine has to use to turn pulley-what do you get?- Better and faster rev's and response, more power-What did i personally see ?-A good deal more response, engine is very quick to rev and i did see quite a bit of power, What's the downside-some say that crank pulleys can destroy ur engine, other say they won't it's up to you really...Mine so far has been great..who make the kit?- nonstoptuning- use the genesis 3.8 kit but the water pump pulley wont work..fyi

2.Air intake- we all know what these do. What did I see from it- better sound- slightly more power and mpg...it does make the car sound bad ass though. who makes it? Weapon-R - sonata nf v6 3.4 i believe.. you will have to modify it to fit, so take it to a shop and if they tell you it cant be done they are liars and I have pics to prove it

3.Exhaust- Mine is freaking gnarly, it's really loud and aggressive, like a 350z, it cracks and fizzes and is higher pitched..sounds like a v6 no flowmasters here. heres my set up..test pipe( no secondary cat), no resonator, 2 Megan Racing me-oe muffler..Now with these mufflers you can use the silencers and that will bring the tone down a bit. Be forewarned if you use flowmaster or stuff like that there will be a good amount of drone,a un modded azera 3.8 doesnt like to rev much and stays in low tone if you want a better tone remove the secondary cat and that will make the engine tone higher, like always pm me with question

I have been in touch with you JPazera about the intake info idk if you remember or not. But i have an azera 3.8 limited i have a custom 2.5" mandrel bend intake and i love it. This car sounds great (350z like) how u stated above. My car is on cardomain.com if you wanna take a look, i have rims and other minor things. But i definitely want to look into that pulley kit for the 3.8 genesis.... do you have a link u can share for the one you purchased? And possilbly a link for that intake you purchased and had to modify because i have the money and time for these now and would like to get them done.

Re: the air intake, in high school, I used to take the air filter off my Father's '56 Lincoln and toss it in the trunk while I had the car out and about. Big V-8 sounded way good that way with a deep-throated VROOOOOOOOMMMM...

An intake on any car would give the car more sound, stock intakes are designed to flow well, but also muffle noise, only real intakes with dyno test actually have gain i would say, but generally any DIY air intake would work and have gains as its generally more free flowing than the stock box.
