    Azera Trunk

Has anyone experienced any problem with the trunk light being on after you get in the car? I've had the trunk light on and the trunk lock released at least 3 times in the 1st 6 weeks I've owned the car. It seems to happen when I get in the car and close the door. Maybe the switch in the driver's door is flaky and when you close the door the switch opens the trunk?

Yep, it happened to me a couple of times last month. Since then I check for the trunk light on the dash and it has not happened again. I have no idea what triggered it. In terms of closing doors, I'm real easy on them....my mother-in -law on the other hand...

Yes this happened to me a few times. I think when one gets into the car or out of the car and your leg hits the door where the latch is one can ajar the trunk. I really don't think it is by slamming the door. Looking at the latch it is secure but if you hit it with your leg at a certain angle it will pop open.

I always look at the dash before I drive away. Not a good place for either the gas cap latch or the trunk.

It's very, very likely it was caused by the placement of the release button on the door. I too noticed the problem and meant to take it to the dealer. Then suddenly it stopped. Hasn't happened again. After reading the posts I realized that it stopped after I had installed an aftermarket wood grain trim kit. One of the pieces in the kit surrounds the two buttons on the door and is about one eighth inch thick. This, in effect, would provide an effective guard. I never would have thought of that. Thanks forum people.

I disagree... To open the gas door you have to push the button... but the trunk button needs to be pulled out... I'm suspecting it's handling the key FOB... I dont know how many times I have set off the alarm or locked / unlocked the doors or heard the latch of the trunk lock while approaching the car and digging in my pocket for my keys...

Pretty sure it's the key fob. Can't say how many times I've bent over in the kitchen and heard a "beep" (car just locked) or a "beep-beep" (car just unlocked) or a WAA!! WAA!! WAA!! (panic alarm). And once I heard a "click" and checked to find my trunk unlatched.

I've looked online for a clamshell sort of cover for the fob, one that flips open for access like some cell phones, but no luck...

How about if a Latex IPOD Nano sleeve cut down to protect the buttons and still allow you to press them...Mmmm just thought of this, maybe I'll see if it fits?

Not quite sure what that IS (at least I've heard of an Ipod ), but if it's maybe something that is transparent and somewhat rigid and could slide snugly over the key remote and still allow buttons to be pressed with a bit more effort, that would work!...

when I noticed the light on, I figured somehow I hit the botton on the keys. Then it occurred to me that my daughter loves playing with the keys so I figured it was her.

I just make sure I'm careful within range of the car and make sure I don't accidentally unlock the car.

    RE: Azera Trunk

If the Azera receives a wireless "unlock" command" and a door is not opened within 30 sec., it will automatically re-lock the doors and trunk. But if the wireless "unlock trunk" is depressed for a long enough period, the trunk latch will unlock and will stay unlocked. At least it won't, like some cars, automatically raise the trunk lid invitingly to one and all... : )
